44 verified places that are always on, blended with 120 live Toronto events running today through Sunday (Fri 6 Nov – Sun 8 Nov). Every card is labelled — 📍 Place or 🎟️ Event — and the chips filter the whole blend; the counts are the real counts.
Showing 164 things to do
📍 Places — always on
CN Tower
📍 Downtown · 1–2 hrs
Toronto's defining tower, with observation levels high above the downtown core, a glass floor, the higher Top viewing platform and the EdgeWalk walk around the outside of the main pod.
Casa Loma
📍 Midtown · 2–3 hrs
A Gothic Revival castle in midtown Toronto, built as a private residence and now a historic house museum with decorated rooms, towers, an underground tunnel and estate gardens to explore.
Toronto Zoo
📍 Scarborough · Full day
Canada's large zoo in the Rouge valley in Scarborough, organised into geographic regions with indoor pavilions and long walking trails. The Zoo states it is open every day, including December 25.
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
📍 Downtown · 2–3 hrs
A large indoor aquarium at the foot of the CN Tower, built around underwater viewing tunnels and galleries of marine and freshwater habitats, including a long tunnel beneath sharks and rays.
Hockey Hall of Fame
📍 Downtown · 2–3 hrs
The home of the Stanley Cup in Brookfield Place downtown, with trophy displays, hockey artefacts and interactive games including a model rink where visitors can shoot, save and call the play.
Ontario Science Centre
📍 Harbourfront · 1–2 hrs
The Science Centre's interim home at Harbourfront Centre, where its KidSpark and Innovation Station spaces offer hands-on science play for children while its new Ontario Place home is built. This is not the former Don Mills site, which closed in 2024.
St. Lawrence Market
📍 Old Town · 1–2 hrs
Toronto's historic public market in Old Town: the South Market's food merchants trade Tuesday to Sunday, and the Saturday Farmers' Market fills the North Market building across Front Street.
Toronto Island Park / Centre Island
📍 Toronto Islands · Full day
The City's island park a short ferry ride from downtown — a car-free chain of islands with beaches, picnic grounds, trails and skyline views back across the harbour, reached from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.
Harbourfront Centre
📍 Harbourfront · 2–3 hrs
A 10-acre waterfront cultural campus on Queens Quay West running year-round festivals, concerts, exhibitions, craft studios and recreation, with many free events in its daily listings.
Sugar Beach
📍 East Bayfront · 1–2 hrs
A small urban beach park on the East Bayfront beside the Redpath Sugar refinery, with sand, pink umbrellas and Muskoka chairs facing the harbour. It is a place to sit by the water rather than a swimming beach.
HTO Park
📍 Harbourfront · 1–2 hrs
An urban beach park west of Harbourfront Centre, with a sand area under fixed yellow umbrellas, grassy knolls and views across to the islands. Like Sugar Beach, it is for lounging by the water, not swimming.
Toronto Music Garden
📍 Harbourfront · 1–2 hrs
A waterfront garden on Queens Quay West whose six sections interpret the movements of Bach's first cello suite, designed with cellist Yo-Yo Ma — winding paths, planting 'rooms' and a performance pavilion by the lake.
Cherry Beach (Clarke Beach Park)
📍 Port Lands · 2–3 hrs
A lakeside beach park at the foot of Cherry Street in the Port Lands, with a supervised swimming beach in summer, an off-leash dog area and a launch point for wind and paddle sports, linked to downtown by the Martin Goodman Trail.
Ontario Place
📍 Exhibition Place · 2–3 hrs
The waterfront grounds at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard West are publicly accessible today through Trillium Park, with lakeside trails, fire pits that can be reserved, and a program of free park events such as the SummerSeries and the Lumière light exhibition.
Royal Ontario Museum
📍 Queen's Park / University · Half day
Canada's leading museum, in the museum's own words home to 18 million artworks, artefacts and specimens from around the world and across the ages — dinosaurs, gems, mummies and world-culture galleries under the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal.
Art Gallery of Ontario
📍 Grange Park · 2–3 hrs
Ontario's main art museum on Dundas Street West, with Canadian, Indigenous and international collections in a building reshaped by Frank Gehry. Ontarians under 25 visit free, and admission is free on the first Wednesday night of each month.
Bata Shoe Museum
📍 The Annex · 1–2 hrs
A museum devoted entirely to footwear at Bloor and St George, displaying over a thousand shoes from a collection of nearly 15,000 objects spanning 4,500 years, in a building designed to suggest an opened shoebox.
Aga Khan Museum
📍 North York · 2–3 hrs
A museum of the arts of Muslim civilisations on Wynford Drive, with a permanent collection of over 1,200 objects in a light-filled Fumihiko Maki building, set in the landscaped Aga Khan Park beside the Ismaili Centre.
Gardiner Museum
📍 Queen's Park · 1–2 hrs
Canada's ceramics museum across Queen's Park from the ROM, stewarding over 5,000 clay objects from the ancient Americas, Europe, Japan and China plus contemporary work, with hands-on clay studios.
Textile Museum of Canada
📍 Downtown · 1–2 hrs
The only museum in Canada dedicated to textiles, in downtown Toronto near City Hall, presenting exhibitions drawn from a global collection of fabrics, garments and textile art, with tours of up to 90 minutes.
Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA)
📍 Lower Junction · 1–2 hrs
Toronto's contemporary art museum in a converted industrial building on Sterling Road in the Lower Junction, presenting changing exhibitions by Canadian and international artists across three floors.
Fort York National Historic Site
📍 Fort York · 2–3 hrs
Toronto's founding landscape: a War of 1812 fort holding Canada's largest collection of original 1812 military buildings, with guided tours and programs on the site of the 1813 Battle of York.
Spadina Museum
📍 Midtown · 1–2 hrs
A grand Austin-family mansion beside Casa Loma, presented as Toronto in the 1920s and 1930s through the lives of the family and the staff who ran the house, with gardens and grounds on the ravine edge. Visits to the house are by guided tour.
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery
📍 Harbourfront · 1–2 hrs
A non-collecting public gallery for contemporary art inside Harbourfront Centre's former powerhouse, recognisable by its smokestack, presenting new exhibitions by Canadian and international artists each season.
The Distillery District
📍 Old Toronto · 2–3 hrs
A pedestrian-only village inside the Victorian Gooderham & Worts distillery — cobblestone lanes and red-brick industrial buildings now holding more than 40 boutiques and one-of-a-kind shops, plus galleries, theatres, cafés and restaurants. It doubles as a festival ground, and in winter hosts the Distillery Winter Village.
Kensington Market
📍 Kensington-Chinatown · 2–3 hrs
A few dense blocks where Victorian houses have become vintage clothing shops, bakeries, cheese shops, grocers, cafés and bars — the BIA describes a diverse community of unique wares and tasty eats, with festivals through the year. Best taken slowly, and hungry.
Yorkville (Bloor-Yorkville)
📍 Yorkville · 2–3 hrs
Toronto's flagship shopping quarter, where a 19th-century village's cobblestone side streets now hold designer boutiques, galleries and restaurants; the BIA counts some 1,200 businesses and more than 700 boutiques, eateries, hotels and galleries. Come for window-shopping and people-watching as much as buying.
Greektown on the Danforth
📍 The Danforth · 2–3 hrs
Toronto's Greek neighbourhood along the Danforth between Hampton Avenue and Dewhurst Boulevard, where the City's BIA listing counts more than 85 food establishments — bakeries, tavernas, cafés and grill houses. It peaks each August with Taste of the Danforth, which the City says draws more than a million visitors.
Queen West (West Queen West)
📍 Queen West · 2–3 hrs
The western stretch of Queen Street West, promoted by its BIA (created in 2005) as Toronto's art and design district, running from Bathurst Street to Gladstone Avenue. Expect indie boutiques, galleries and music venues, more than 100 patios by the BIA's count, and free outdoor movie nights in Trinity Bellwoods Park.
Little Italy
📍 Little Italy · 2–3 hrs
The heart of College Street between Bathurst and Shaw, where the BIA promotes a strip of restaurants, local shops, cafés and nightlife rooted in the neighbourhood's Italian heritage. Its summer street festival, Taste of Little Italy, closes the street to cars and fills it with food stalls.
Riverside
📍 Riverside · 1–2 hrs
Ten blocks of Queen Street East from the Riverside Bridge (the Queen Street viaduct) to just east of De Grassi Street, run by one of Toronto's first BIAs, founded in 1980. More than 100 eateries, shops and attractions — the Broadview Hotel and the Opera House among them — with free public events and self-guided tours year-round.
The Beaches (Beach Village)
📍 The Beaches · Half day
Queen Street East's main street through Toronto's famous Beach neighbourhood, running from Coxwell Avenue to Neville Park Road with the lake boardwalk a short walk south. Per the City's BIA listing, most businesses are independently owned — boutiques, cafés and restaurants — and the BIA hosts Movie Nights in the Park and Halloween on Queen.
High Park
📍 High Park · Half day
Toronto's best-known large park, anchored by Grenadier Pond and famous each spring for its sakura cherry trees — 2,000 Somei-Yoshino trees gifted by the citizens of Tokyo in 1959 and planted on the hillside above the pond. Outside blossom season it is the city's all-purpose green escape of trails, gardens and lawns.
Rouge National Urban Park
📍 Rouge Valley · Full day
One of the largest urban parks in North America — Rouge River valley forest, farmland, marsh and Lake Ontario shoreline protected where Toronto meets Markham, Pickering and Uxbridge, with more than 50 kilometres of trails. Two areas are currently closed (Rouge Beach and Marsh, and the Zoo Road Day Use Area), but the rest of the park remains open year-round.
Tommy Thompson Park
📍 Leslie Street Spit · Half day
A constructed peninsula reaching five kilometres into Lake Ontario that has become an urban wilderness of wildflower meadows, cottonwood forests, coastal marshes, cobble beaches and dunes across more than 500 hectares. TRCA calls it one of the best bird-watching areas in the GTA, with more than 300 species recorded; hiking, cycling and fishing fill out a visit.
Evergreen Brick Works
📍 Don Valley · 2–3 hrs
A brick factory that helped build Toronto, set in the Don Valley ravines and reopened in 2010 by the charity Evergreen as a community and nature hub. Come for the Saturday farmers market, the children's garden, the kiln building and the ravine trails that start at its door.
Allan Gardens
📍 Garden District · 1–2 hrs
A downtown botanical garden under glass: five greenhouses — arid, tropical, palm, orchid and bromeliad, and a temperate show house with a koi pond — arranged around the 1910 Palm House. A warm, green pause a few minutes from the downtown core, in any weather.
Toronto Botanical Garden and Edwards Gardens
📍 Edwards Gardens · 2–3 hrs
Seventeen themed gardens around a visitor centre at Lawrence and Leslie, flowing down into the Edwards Gardens ravine with its lawns, river and trails. Check the trail notices before you go — storm damage has closed sections of the ravine trail until further notice.
Humber Bay Park East
📍 Humber Bay Shores · 2–3 hrs
A lakefront park where Mimico Creek meets Lake Ontario, with ponds, bike trails and picnic sites — and the Humber Bay Butterfly Habitat, an ecological restoration of native wildflowers, shrubs and wetland opened in 2002. The downtown skyline across the water is the backdrop to every walk.
Bluffer's Park (Scarborough Bluffs)
📍 Scarborough Bluffs · Half day
The beach-level gateway to the Scarborough Bluffs — eleven City parks along 15 kilometres of cliffs formed from glacial deposits some 12,000 years ago. Bluffer's Park pairs the bluff face with a sandy swimming beach, picnic areas, lookouts and a boat launch; the City warns the cliff edge is unstable, so stay behind the fences.
Guild Park and Gardens
📍 Guildwood · 2–3 hrs
A quiet bluffs-top park in Scarborough's Guildwood that the City has anchored with the Clark Centre for the Arts — studios and gallery spaces at 191 Guildwood Parkway that residents and visitors can enjoy year-round. Pair a gallery stop with a wander through the parkland above the lake.
Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre
📍 Downtown · 1–2 hrs
The last operating stacked theatre in the world: two Edwardian theatres one above the other on Yonge Street, the garden-themed Winter Garden floating over the gilded Elgin, together a National Historic Site. The Trust's guided tours are the way inside without a show ticket; the current public tour season has finished and tours return in January 2027.
Ontario Legislative Building (Queen's Park)
📍 Queen's Park · 1–2 hrs
Ontario's Parliament in the middle of Queen's Park, open for free guided tours every 30 minutes from open to close on building days (Monday to Saturday). The tour takes in the chamber, the art and the pink-sandstone 1893 building itself — one of the easiest free hours downtown.
Todmorden Mills Heritage Site
📍 Don Valley · 1–2 hrs
A 19th-century mill village hidden in the Don Valley: brewery-era buildings, the Papermill Theatre in the first mill of its kind in Upper Canada, and a 9.2-hectare wildflower preserve on the trails behind the site. One of Toronto's history museums — and admission and guided tours are free.
