How we source & verify events
Ontario Events Buzz is a catalogue, not a copy shop. Every listing traces back to a primary source — the organizer, the venue, or the official seller for that event — and this page explains how listings get in, how they are checked, and how to get one corrected.
Where listings come from
We collect events from the official pages of the people who run them: venues, theatres, libraries, municipalities, sports teams, festivals, and the primary ticket sellers those organizers use. Aggregator round-ups and other event calendars are used only as leads — a listing is published from the organizer's or venue's own page, never copied from another calendar. Every event page links to its source, so you can always check the original.
Organizers can also submit their own events free through Add your event. Submissions are reviewed against the same standard before they appear.
What we check before publishing
Each listing is matched against its source page for date, start time, venue, and city, and duplicates of the same event are merged into one record. Listings whose details cannot be confirmed against a primary source are held back, not published. Before any update goes live, the full catalogue passes an automated audit and regression suite — a failed check stops the publish.
Prices and times, exactly as published
Prices, offers, and ticket status are shown exactly as the source publishes them — never invented, rounded up, converted, or carried over from a similar event. When a source publishes no price, the listing says the price is not listed rather than guessing. The same rule covers our place guides: a place's photo is its own, taken from its official page, or the page says so.
Corrections
Spotted something wrong — a moved date, a wrong price, a cancelled show still listed? Email [email protected] with the event and what the source page says. Corrections are checked against the source and then pinned to the record, so the fix survives every later refresh instead of being overwritten by the next scan.
Kept current
The catalogue is refreshed once a day and updated on demand when organizers announce changes. Events that have ended are removed, date changes roll forward, and sold-out or postponed status follows the source. What you see is the catalogue as its sources currently state it.
Sponsored listings
Businesses can buy a Featured Ad on a city page. Featured Ads are always labelled Sponsored, link to the advertiser's own website, and are never mixed into the event catalogue or presented as events. Editorial listings are never sold.
